About Le Domaine des Hallais
Le Domaine des Hallais is an old French 'corps de ferme' with just over 4 acres of rural farmland in the Erve Valley in the department of Mayenne. It was purchased by the current owners in April 2005 with a view to renovating it to create an activity centre for groups of people who want to get away together.
The ensemble comprises three main buildings and two outbuildings. The first building, the House, is the owners' accommodation. The second, the Lodge, houses the kitchen, dining room, reception and lounge on the ground floor, and three bedrooms above. The third, the Grange, is a former barn, and houses the swimming pool, two activity rooms and four further bedrooms. The first outbuilding was converted into a storage area for fuel for the wood-fired heating, and the second was divided into a boiler room and the dollhouse museum (Mayenne Miniatures). The majority of the buildings are believed to date from the 19th century. The House was renovated by previous owners in the 1980s and the other buildings were rebuilt and refurbished between September 2006 and May 2008.
