Map and Directions
By Rail
Eurostar and TGV will get you to within a 40-50 minute drive from us, with a single change at Lille Europe or Paris. Via Paris the connection requires a journey on the metro to Gare Montparnasse from Gard du Nord (on a single metro line, no.4, no changes needed); via Lille Europe the connection is in the same station. We can collect you from any of our three nearest TGV stations at Le Mans, Laval, or Sablé sur Sarthe.
By Air and Rail / Air
We can also collect you from our nearest airports which are at Rennes and Tours; flights are available from several provincial UK airports. However, you will usually find that efficient (and low-cost) trips can also be made by air to Paris Charles de Gaulle airport followed by a connecting TGV rail journey.
Pickup / Drop-off rates
Our Renault Espace can carry up to 6 passengers. The charge for a pick-up or drop-off at Tours airport is 90 euros; Rennes airport 70 Euros; Le Mans railway station 40 Euros, Laval or Sablé-sur-Sarthe railway stations 30 euros, regardless of the number of passengers, up to 6.
By Car / Ferry
If you prefer to bring your own car, we recommend bringing a good French road atlas or using a GPS. Our preferred route is via the overnight car ferry from Portsmouth to St Malo which offers a very civilised journey that takes place mostly while you sleep. Le Domaine des Hallais an easy two hour drive from St Malo, by motorway nearly all the way.
We are about 2 hours 40 minutes from the Ouistreham (Caen) ferry port(best route is via Le Mans now). Le Havre is about 2 hours 45 minutes and Cherbourg about 3 hours 15 mnutes away. You can also take your car by rail to Calais on Le Shuttle, or take a car ferry to Calais, but the drive is about 4 hours 30 miutes so we recommend taking a break along the way.
The map below shows where we are in relation to the major towns. Click on the blue pointer for all the normal Google mapping options.
